Comments: I attended Lostock open air until 1969. I have fond memories of the school and often wonder what became of my fellow pupils and teachers.

Comments:

I was brought up in Lostock and have many happy memories of my childhood around the Rumworth Lodge or the rough ground which was formerly the mill site and is now Middlebrook Drive. I also recall playing for Christ Church football club on the pitches which were used by lostock Open Air School and are now the home of Ladybridge Football Club.

Time has moved on and for the past 5 years I have resided on Pocket Nook Road in Chew Moor and I am also the website editor, trustee and committee member for Ladybridge Football Club. I do beleive it was sad the stance that the Lostock Residents association took in relation to the LFC development, but hopefully now 5 years on all the locals will see the benefits of having a football club which is renowed as the finest in the North West and beyond looking after the green land and protecting it from the house builders who now doubt would have taken the land, had the club not taken the steps it did.

I hope you will also see the work being conducted by volunteers of the club with the help of local folk to update and improve the footpath which runs along the perimeter of the pitches to the benefit of all. There is much more we would like to do to improve the area, and all at Ladybridge would welcome working closer with the Lostock residents group to ensure this is the case. One issue I would like to raise in the area is the dog fouling which I feel is apalling. I have 2 Newfoundlands weighing 10 and 12 stone respectively and a Golden Retriever. I always take poop a scoop bags out with me and clean up after my dogs, but I am disgusted to see that many locals do not and some even allow there pets to foul our football pitches which are regularily used by players under 7 y

Who are you? David Carter (shcokete@aol.com)
Comments: I have a number of connections with Lostock. I lived with my parents Peers & Edith Carter at Regent House where Regent Rd joins CNR. This was previously my grandparents house. My uncle Dan Wynne-Thomas a well known local architect and his wife Madge, lived a few houses down Regent Rd at Bodnant which he designed. My uncle Col Jim Carter lived at Prospect House on Tempest Rd. It seems to have been demolished now & re-developed.My grandmother then Lucy Owen, as a girl lived at Lostock Hall. There is a family story [probably wrong] that she was related to the Owen who founded Owens College in Manchester [now Manchester University] I have a certificate of my grandfathers gained at Owens College. He became a chartered accountant practicing from 14 Wood St Bolton, as did my father and later myself.
